BACKGROUND

Orphaned at a young age, Leon Belmont rose from peasant to nobility through hard work and contributions to his community. Knighted at the age 16, after serving some significant years, he was later bestowed the title of earl and fought as a crusader alongside his dear friend and skilled tactician, Mathias Cronqvist. The two of them were famed for their many victories. One year following their return from a crusade, Leon was told by Mathias that his fiancee, Sara Trantoul, had been kidnapped and brought to the castle of a powerful vampire living in the Forest of Eternal Night. Since the Church refused him permission to sortie, Leon relinquished himself of his noble title and sought off to rescue her on his own. After a tragic course of events, Leon would establish himself as the first Belmont, marking the beginning of what would become a prestigious clan of vampire hunters for centuries to follow.

PERSONALITY

Confident, diligent, and easily liked, Leon is a man of unwavering principle, tempered by years of disciplined training and a profound sense of duty. Though born into hardship, his early life fostered resilience, humility, and a compassion for others that makes him come off as very trustworthy and dependable. He is driven by loyalty, and once given, it is absolute. His work ethic is apparent by how busy he likes to keep himself. With the wellbeing of others always on his mind, his chivalry is most definitely a source of his popularity. Beneath his disciplined exterior lies a passionate will, capable of fierce determination when confronted with injustice. There is a side of Leon that is also pragmatic, as the cruelties of the crusades and personal tragedy have taught him that victory sometimes requires sacrifice. He stays calm and deliberate under pressure. He does, however, every now and then come off as obtuse to the darker intricacies of other people— sarcasm isn't always read, pettiness isn't always understood, manipulation isn't always noticed... and frankly, he can be a little simple-minded. While he's aware of such behavior, he defaults to a trusting person that expects the best of others before the worst. Because of this, he sometimes finds himself falling victim without even knowing. Still, Leon holds a deep love of life and a quiet faith in humanity's potential for good. In every choice he makes, he seeks to uphold the ideals that define him.

APPEARANCE

A former crusader and knight, Leon is fair-skinned with a healthy glow, able to tan faintly in summer months. His hair is a soft shade of blond, and falls around his face in loose, wispy curls. He possesses certain grace and good posture. While speaking, he often gestures with his hands. Every now and then one's perception of him may be intercepted by an occasional clumsiness, but overall, Leon generally looks princely and as if he stepped out of a Baroque painting.

OLFACTORY

He smells outdoorsy— like woods, leather, and sunlight, due to his own inability to stay in. Given a rarer day of lavishing in the wonders of his village, he's more likely to smell like red wine and hay, or like smoked meat roasting in a dining hall. Generally speaking, he's conscious of smell and tries to stay as clean as he can in spite of a very hands-on lifestyle.

POWERS

⚔️ Combat Familiarity - As one of the most recognizable crusaders of the time, Leon often fought first-hand in many battles for the sake of God and his people. Raw accumulated experience allows him comfort not only with his fists, but also when using a large variety of weapons ranging from swords (one or two-handed), lances, axes, and throwing weapons. His official portrait and moments within the game hint that he may be most proficient with the claymore.

⚔️ Trial-and-Error Problem Solving - Leon has become used to reading patterns of movement in foes, as well as the designs of his surroundings. He knows how to look for exploits or short cuts, thanks to high pressure to adapt or otherwise fail at the risk of death.

⚔️ Alchemy - Though he is by no means an expert, thanks to his ally Rinaldo Gandolfi, he's learned to use minor alchemy because of his enchanted gauntlet. This usually consists of adding additional elemental damage to the weapons granted he has the corresponding magic orbs in his possession.

⚔️ Agile / Acrobatic - His move set incorporates cat-like double jumps, back flips and other light-footed maneuvers.

⚔️ Bravery - He has no trouble putting himself second to someone in danger. As long as he believes in the cause he is fighting for, Leon does not hesitate or fear death.
